Mission

Many women in Guatemala make an effort to support their families, whether by taking them to school, providing for their medical treatments, working long hours for minimum wage, or making other sacrifices, sometimes to little effect.

We seek to empower women to be entrepreneurs in a way that does not keep them from their family’s needs or their own responsibilities within it, as well as to help them generate a source of income through the production of ecological sponges.

Aside from being a productive passtime, crochet is beneficial for mental health: it clears the mind, allows us to be mindful, and helps us process and reduce our negative thoughts or feelings.
